The
House of Sleep
by Peter
The House of Sleep by Jonathan Coe is a tale of the
sleep-filled and sleep-deprived lives of four students at a
university and how their lives intertwine. I picked up this
book before boarding my flight back to the US. It was just a
chance purchase. Something about the cover caught my eye and
the subject was interesting. And no, it wasn't the rumpled sheets
on a bed that grabbed my attention.
It is a short read, a few hours, but well worth it. Even though
some parts are predictable, this story engaged me and made me
care about these people. Love and obsession are the primary
motivations for the characters: Sarah, Robert, Terry, and Gregory.
If you don't mind a few lesbian situations, and a little sexual
explicitness, this is a good read.
